The 2010 Mother Tongue Languages Review Committee Report (MOE, 2011) has noted the importance of strengthening learners’ interaction skills for students to communicate effectively in real life. In line with this, this course aims to equip Chinese language teachers with the relevant skills to design integrated tasks that require learners to utilize two or more language skills.
At the end of this course, participants would be able to:
1.Articulate the concept of integration in second language testing.
2.Identify the different types of integrated tasks.
3.Design integrated tasks for classroom-based assessment based on different domains of language use.

The course comprises the following sections:
1.Introduction to integrated language assessment (e.g., concept, task type, and recent developments etc.)
2.Analysis of language use domains
3.Designing integrated tasks
Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops for group work.
