Course Objective

Course supported by CPDD.

After attending the course, participants will be able to:
1.Understand the objectives of teaching reading, able to identify the teaching objectives base on the text genre and the students' background knowledge.
2.Understand the connection between the content and the objectives of teaching reading, and able to select appropriate passages for reading.
3.Apply the guidelines to design learning activities to achieve lesson objectives.
4.Develop lesson plans as a team, to promote reflections and to raise the teachers' professional competency.

Course Outline

The course content includes the following:
1.The definition of teaching objective for the reading lessons, and the relationship between unit objectives and curriculum objectives.
2.The rationales and methods to identify the teaching objectives for reading lessons.
3.The connection between the teaching content and the teaching objectives.
4.The guidelines on the selection of teaching content.
5.The design of teaching reading in class.
6.Develop lesson plans as a team.
7.Sharing on lesson plans.
8.Discussion on the teaching of reading and the teaching of writing; and the teaching of and assessment on reading.

Course Prerequisite
