SCCL Conducted Courses for China's Zhejiang Early Childhood Education Group
From November 2023 to February 2024, a group of preschool principals from China's Zhejiang Province participated in a three-month early childhood education training programme at the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL). The purpose of this course was to deepen the participants' understanding of Singapore's early childhood education philosophy and practices.
To provide the participants with a comprehensive perspective, the course content was rich and varied, including the exploration of the cultural diversity of Singapore as an international metropolis as well as the in-depth interpretation of Singapore's overall framework of early childhood education. The programme covered practical experiences of introducing artificial intelligence (AI) in early childhood education in Singapore, as well as in-depth discussions on various aspects of early childhood education through research. Furthermore, it explored Singapore's unique bilingual environment, advanced concepts in preschool environmental design, effective assessment methods for children's behavioural development, and the unique role of big books in cultivating comprehensive literacy in preschool children.
This learning experience not only enriched the participants' professional knowledge, but also broadened their international perspectives. The abundant resources and professional expertise provided by SCCL enabled the participants to gain in-depth insights into Singapore's advanced experiences in preschool education. SCCL looks forward to further deepening the cooperation with preschool education sectors in China to jointly promote the development of preschool education.
