Abstract
It is recognized that vocabulary is the basis of second language teaching. However, it has hitherto been almost unexplored on new words learning while they are continually cropping up, especially in learning Chinese as a Second Language, which causes the disconnection between language teaching and communication practice. Taking Chinese Language curriculum in Singapore as an example, this paper elaborated a detailed study on why and how to use new words as an appropriate instruction and strategy training to teach L2 Chinese learners.
