Abstract
Teachers help students become literate. With globalization, English is now developing as a Lingua Franca in the world, which makes the job of English teachers more vital: help students to be literate not only in their own country but in the whole world. The concept of 'World Englishes' indicates that English no longer belongs exclusively to some particular countries where it is used as a native language. As the major force in English language teaching, non-native English speaking teachers' (NNESTs) attitudes would influence their classroom practice. This article reports on the findings of a survey of Chinese college English teachers and recommends solutions from the sociolinguistic perspective regarding the problems revealed.
