Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2022
This year's Mother Tongue Languages Symposium was held on 27 August 2022. The theme for this year was "A Garden for Joyful Discovery" and it was a hybrid event featuring both physical and online components. Participating as a community partner in this symposium, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) strived to provide Chinese language teachers and students with resources and applications that could cater to their teaching and learning needs.
Our exhibits at the online platform include introductory snippets of our competitions such as "Creativity, No Boundaries" National Children's Story Writing Competition, 2022 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students, and 2022 National Preschool Teaching Aid Competition - Creative Picture Book Storyboard. We also showcased a gaming app called "Han Zi Hunter" which we developed to enhance Chinese language learning for the lower primary students.
Another highlight event was a physical sharing session by our Master Teacher Dr Zheng Yingjiang who delivered a speech on "Creating a Positive Chinese Language Learning Experience for Children from Preschool to Primary School". She shared on how educators could tap into daily life experience and games to arouse children's interest in Chinese language learning and encourage them to fall in love with Chinese language with a growth mindset.
