On 13 May 2023, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) organised a book launch of "5E Add-on Children's Picture Books". The series is supported by the Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism. It was created and designed by Dr Cheng Wan-Ni, the Dean of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Department of SCCL, together with illustrators Ang Minjia and Nicole Tay. The series includes six books -- The Animals' Picnic, Mozzie Finds a New Home, The Journey of Little Stone, A Hug for You!, My Blankie, and Ah-Choo!, which are unique representations of Singapore.  

  The storylines of the six picture-books can be extended limitlessly. While telling the stories, the teachers and parents can add new story elements, allowing children to gain new knowledge while having fun, thus achieving the objectives of "5E", namely "Extendable", "Enabling", "Engaging", "Educational" and "Enjoyable" in the process. The 5E picture books pique children's interests in learning Chinese and let them experience the joy of reading.

  On the day of the book launch, Dr Cheng shared her creative inspiration and the challenges she encountered in the process of creation and production of the books.  The event concluded with applauses from the audience.
