Prof Lan Yu-Ju from Taiwan Normal University Visits SCCL for Lectures and Professional Guidance

       Professor Lan Yu-Ju, Research Chair Professor in the Department of Chinese as a Second Language at Taiwan Normal University, has been invited to be an overseas research consultant for Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL). She visited SCCL from 28 to 30 April 2025 to conduct a three-day advisory session.

        Professor Lan is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Educational Technology & Society, Associate Editor of Language Learning & Technology, and serves on the editorial board of Ampersand. She was awarded the Outstanding Research Award by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, in 2022. Her research interests include technology-enhanced foreign language learning, virtual reality, artificial intelligence (AI), and online synchronous teacher training.

        On the morning of 30 April, Professor Lan delivered a special lecture at SCCL titled "AI and Chinese Language Teaching: Theoretical Framework and Practice". The lecture focused on the application of AI tools in Chinese language teaching and explained the theories supporting AI-assisted instructional design and classroom practice. Officers from the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD), Ministry of Education, as well as SCCL staff, attended the lecture. During the Q&A session, Dr Zhang Limei, Dean of Academic Affairs of SCCL, addressed questions to Professor Lan. Professor Lan provided insightful and in-depth responses.

        On the afternoon of 30 April, Professor Lan delivered another lecture for academic and research staff of SCCL, titled "Academic Paper Writing and Publishing: Advice from an Editor-in-Chief". Professor Lan provided an in-depth explanation of key concepts and actively engaged with the audience during the Q&A session.
