Freelance Illustrators for Chinese Illustrated Books

Job Description:

Singapore Centre for Chinese Language Limited plans to publish a series of Chinese graded readers featuring winning entries from the Story Writing Competition on Singapore Chinese Culture. These works will be produced as illustrated Chinese books and distributed to all secondary schools in Singapore. As part of its efforts to promote the creation of art by Singaporeans, SCCL is seeking local talent to serve as freelance illustrators for this graded reader series.
 
Requirements:
  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, with a background in art.
  • Experience in illustrating picture books or illustrated books is preferred.
  • Ability to create artworks, illustrations, and layout designs for picture books or illustrated books.
  • Ability to conduct research using historical photographs and reference materials related to the stories before producing illustrations.
  • Knowledge of Singapore Chinese culture is an added advantage.
  • Good communication and reading skills in Mandarin, to liaise with Mandarin-speaking associates.
