Abstract

Singapore's drama education came into sight and accordingly existed in school system when educational reform was considered as the main task of the country. Drama education in Singapore is underdeveloped since study of drama has been disregarded. In a different way, the recent decade's educational actions with an emphasis on pedagogical innovation and improvement and the noticeable recognition from the Singapore government have contributed to the rapid development of drama education.

This speech reports the drama education in Singapore. It introduces the conditions which encourage the emergence of drama education, the main forces that contribute to the development, and the current scene of drama education. This speech is an attempt to envision the possible development after analysing the advantages and challenges of drama education in Singapore.
