Lecturer’s Profile
Ms. Lao Yuqing holds a master's degree in early childhood education and an Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework. She has over 20 years of experience working in the early childhood education sector in Singapore. She has served as a preschool Chinese language teacher, an adjunct lecturer and practicum mentor at the National Institute of Early Childhood Development (NIEC), and an adjunct lecturer and programme mentor at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). She is currently a lecturer at the Singapore Chinese Language Research Centre. Her areas of expertise include preschool teachers’ professional growth and development, children’s play and inquiry, multicultural and bilingual education in early childhood, young children’s social and emotional development, and infant and toddler care and education (ages 0–4).
Course Overview
This course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the history and multiculturalism of Singapore, as well as the policies and current situation of early childhood education in Singapore, and to use systematic cross-cultural adaptation strategies to better integrate into the local education environment, improve teaching standards, and become localized teaching experts. In addition, the course also specifically introduces the career development paths and resources for preschool teachers in Singapore, helping preschool teachers to continuously improve their teaching skills and professional standards, explore cooperation opportunities with local education institutions, and expand career development space.
