The Academy of Singapore Teachers (AST), Curriculum Planning and Development Department (CPDD) of Ministry of Education and Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) jointly organised the Chinese Language Cross-Level Deployment Course for Teachers Redeployed to Primary Schools. Running from 16 October to 17 November 2017, the course was attended by 21 secondary and junior college Chinese language teachers who will be making the switch to primary schools.

        Sixteen lessons of the course were conducted in SCCL. The contents were developed by Mdm Wang Yanyan (Assistant Director, Chinese Language, CPDD) and Dr Ng Tai Cheen (Principal Master Teacher, MOE). Topics include "Introduction to Primary Chinese syllabus", "Primary Chinese Teaching and Evaluation", "Classroom Management" and "Differentiated Instruction" etc.

        The Ministry of Education places great emphasis on the course. Lecturers were selected from among CPDD specialists and Master Teachers. CPDD specialists involved included Mdm Teo Eng Hui (Deputy Director, Mother Tongue Languages, CPDD), Mdm Wang Yanyan (Assistant Director, Chinese Language, CPDD), Mr Wang Chu Meng, Mr Sin Sit Boon, Ms Low Miow Noi and Mdm Tee Ying Chuen. Master Teachers who took part were Dr Ng Tai Cheen, Mdm Chow Fong Yee, Mdm Zheng Yingjiang, Ms Sim Lucy, Mdm Min Yu, Dr Goh Poh Huat and Mr Ang Swee Choon. 

        The course ended on a happy note with a Q & A and interactive session on 16 November 2017. The session was attended by Mdm Teo Eng Hui, Mdm Wang Yanyan, Dr Foo Suan Fong (Executive Director, SCCL), Mr Chong Leong Chin (Deputy Director, SCCL) and Master Teachers.
