SCCL Staff Invited as Keynote Speakers

 

1. SCCL staff speak at Mother Tongue Languages Symposium 2017

      • Assoc Prof Tan Chee Lay

        At the "When Artistes Meet an Academic" panel session, Assoc Prof Tan Chee Lay joined artistes Ms Zoe Tay and Ms Lin Peifen in the discussion on how to create a nurturing environment for children to learn Chinese language through different approaches.

      • Dr Soh Kay Cheng

        In the sharing session titled "Help Your Child Learn Mother Tongue Efficiently and Happily", Dr Soh Kay Cheng discussed what Singaporean parents today could do to motivate their children to learn mother tongue from a psychological perspective.

      • Dr Cheng Wan-ni and Mdm Zheng Yingjiang

        In the session titled "Come! Let's Read! Creating a Conducive Physical Environment at Home for Parent-Child Reading Activities in Chinese Language", Dr Cheng Wan-ni and Master Teacher Zheng Yingjiang discussed the factors that impact parent-child reading, and inspired the audience to create a conducive reading environment at home.

 2. Assoc Prof Tan Chee Lay gave keynote speech at the first "Content-Based Instruction in Chinese Teaching and Learning" conference

        At the invitation of the National Taiwan Normal University, Assoc Prof Tan Chee Lay gave a keynote speech, entitled "Contend-based instruction in teaching Chinese language in Singapore: Experience and vision", at the first "Content-Based Instruction in Chinese Teaching and Learning" conference. The conference was held on 17 November and 18 November 2017.

3. Mdm Tan Geok Hoon

        Mdm Tan Geok Hoon was invited to attend "The Eighth Annual International Symposium of Foreign Language Learning (8th AISOFOLL)" on 18-19 October 2017 at Jakarta, and give a keynote speech titled "From Curriculum to Teaching: Singapore schools' Experience on Teaching Critical Thinking in Chinese Language classrooms". This symposium was organised by the SEAMEO QITEP in Language.

4. Mr Lim Yee Pin

        Mr Lim Yee Pin was invited by Department of Education, New Era University College to "The 2nd International Conference on Theory and Practice of Chinese Language Teaching" held from 14 October to 15 October 2017. He made a keynote speech at the conference on "Professional Development of Singapore Teachers".
