Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's "MOE-NIE-SEAB-SCCL Sharing Forum" was unprecedentedly held online via Zoom on 20 July 2020. Curriculum specialists, academics, researchers and Master Teachers once again gathered to exchange their views on topics related to Chinese language (CL) education in Singapore. With their synergistic effort, they hope to propel the development of CL education to a greater height, particularly in the area of E-pedagogy and digital based learning.

        This year's event was graced by Mdm Heng Boey Hong (Director, Mother Tongue Languages Branch, Curriculum Planning and Development Division, MOE). Key sharing at this year's forum included presentations by Mr Lak Yau Hui from MOE Educational Technology Division on "Designing for Active Learning with E-Pedagogy", Mdm Too Jye Yuin from SEAB on "How to Enhance Learners' Language Ability through High-quality Test: An Example of Oral Test", Ms Soh Khai Hoon and Mr Wong Soon Yeow from CPDD on "2021 Planing and Practice of Using Information Technology in Secondary Schools' Chinese Language Curriculum", and Mdm Xu Jinhong from CPDD on "Mother Tongue Support Program: ABLE Chinse I can".

        Dr Foo Suan Fong, SCCL's Executive Director wrapped up the forum by emphasizing that though our future generation will embrace virtual reality in their learning, we, as CL educators, have the responsibility to ensure that the standard and effectiveness of the teaching of Mother Tongue literacy and language skills as well as Chinese culture are not compromised. At the same time, we should also put in place appropriate assessment tools to measure student progress. With the post-pandemic era, the blending of online and offline learning will become the norm. More efforts must be made to explore how to integrate virtual and real-life classroom teaching so as to nurture our students to become independent and lifelong learners.
