The Education University of Hong Kong Visited SCCL
A five-member delegation from the Centre for Research on Chinese Language and Education (CRCLE) and the Department of Chinese Language Studies of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) visited Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) on the morning of 30 November 2022. Dr Foo Suan Fong, Executive Director of SCCL, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Professor Zhu Qingzhi, Chair professor of EdUHK, expressed the expectation that the two centres could establish a long-term exchange and cooperation relationship.
There was a sharing session by Dr Liao Xian, Deputy Head of the Department of Chinese Linguistics, EdUHK, and Dr Han Yiting, lecturer of SCCL. Dr Liao's topic was "Multimedia-Assisted Teaching in Chinese Language and Culture: Achievements and Future Directions". He talked about the advantages and limitations of applying multimedia into Chinese language and culture teaching, and pointed out the research direction in the future. Dr Han's topic was "Integrating Gamification into Chinese Teaching: Things Those Games Taught Me". She discussed the theoretical basis of integrating gamification into Chinese teaching, and shared some practical methods that educators can use to support their students' learning. The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on these two topics.
After the sharing session, SCCL management and the delegation from the EdUHK had a discussion. The two parties introduced their respective research directions and discussed the possibility of future cooperation.
