Signing of Agreement with Taiwan Lu Feng Technology to Provide Free Use of Animated Comics Resources for Singapore Teachers

The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between SCCL and Lu Feng Technology Inc., Taiwan, was held on 23rd July 2012 at SCCL. The agreement was signed by SCCL executive director Dr. Chin Chee Kuen and the manager of Lu Feng Technology Inc. Mr. Tseng Jr-Shi.

The collaboration between SCCL and Lu Feng Technology started as early as 2009 when SCCL, together with a group of researchers from the Learning Sciences Lab of National Institute of Education (NIE), embarked on a pilot project to use animated comics in teaching Chinese idioms with technical support from Lu Feng Technology Inc. Encouraged by positive feedback from schools and teachers, SCCL sought further support from Lu Feng Technology Inc, which has consequently agreed to grant the right of free use of 48 sets of animated comics about Chinese idioms to all Chinese Language teachers in Singapore.

A SCCL research team is currently engaged in the development of a teaching toolkit demonstrating how to effectively use these animated comics. All Chinese Language teachers in Singapore can expect to be able to use these resources by next year.
