The book launch and guided reading of "Deep Teaching: The Teaching Practices and Reflections of Singapore's Chinese Language Master Teachers" was held on 30 April 2015 by SCCL. The Centre was honoured to have Ms. Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Education, grace the session as Guest of Honour. The session attracted a huge audience of over 200, including teachers and members of the public. The session was led by Dr. Tan Chee Lay, Deputy Executive Director of SCCL, along with the Master Teachers.

The session attracted over 200 participants

Written by the Master Teachers, "Deep Teaching" is a compilation of 15 academic research papers on the teaching of Chinese language and literature in Singapore. It discusses theories and methods that facilitate the classroom teaching of Chinese as a second language. The book is divided into two sections, "Teaching Material and Assessment" and "Pedagogical Explorations", which explores oral, writing and other pedagogies. This book is a milestone in the field of Chinese language education and research. It is also a summary of the Master Teachers' reflections and experience accumulated in practice.
