NIE-SCCL Professional Forum
On 31 Jul 2015, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) and National Institute of Education (NIE) co-organized a professional forum for the prospect of Chinese language education in Singapore. Various professionals from the Ministry of Education (MOE), NIE and SCCL attended the forum.
Delegates from Shandong University Visited SCCL
On 29 July, Dr. Ma Xiaole, Assistant Dean of the College of International Education, Shandong University, Ms. Liu Shuhong, Project Officer of the Office of Confucius Institute, Shandong University and Dr. Neo Peng Fu, Director, Confucius Institute, NTU visited SCCL. They were received by SCCL Deputy Executive Director Mr. Chong Leong Chin, Project Director of SCCL Corporate Development Committee Mr. Tan Kiak Seng and Principal Master Teacher Dr. Ng Tai Cheen. The parties shared information and exchanged views on their respective training programmes and research projects.
Book Launch and Guided Reading of "Deep Teaching"
Book Launch and Guided Reading of "Deep Teaching: The Teaching Practices and Reflections of Singapore's Chinese Language Master Teachers"The book launch and guided reading of "Deep Teaching: The Teaching Practices and Reflections of Singapore's Chinese Language Master Teachers" was held on 30 April 2015 by SCCL. The Centre was honoured to have Ms. Sim Ann, Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Education, grace the session as Guest of Honour.
Asian Festival of Children's Content 2015 Exhibition
From 3 – 6 June 2015, National Book Development Council of Singapore organized the "Asian Festival of Children's Content" at the National Library Building. SCCL was invited to participate in the exhibition of this 4-day event and to showcase its children books.
Statistics Enrichment Programme for SCCL Staff
In May and June this year, SCCL was honoured to invite Dr. Shen Wei from Central China Normal University and Dr. Soh Kay Cheng, a renowned educationist in Singapore, to conduct a statistics enrichment programmes for the staff.
New Staff and Interns
From April to August this year, 2 new staff have joined SCCL. They are Dr. Cheng Wan-Ni and Dr. He Yanran. The 6 interns who joined SCCL are: Ms. Huang Fang, Ms. Soh Yan Jin, Ms. Zhang Jia, Ms. Kou Fanfei, Ms. Lyu Boning and Ms. Chang Ching-Wen.
Latest Publications
As part of its effort to promote creative writing, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language organised a National Story Writing Competition in 2013. The winning entries are published in this Interactive Graded Picture Book Series entitled "Rainbow Bridge".
