Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education visited SCCL
Minister for Education Ong Ye Kung made his first visit to Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) on 5 October 2018. He had a dialogue with SCCL management during which he was briefed on the general development of the Centre's in-service training courses for Chinese language teachers, research projects, as well as teaching resources development and pre-school education training courses.
The dialogue was followed by a meeting with SCCL lecturers, master teachers and researchers. The Minister was concerned in particular with students' learning ability. He raised questions on how home language environment can affect the development of the mental lexicon of young children and how differentiated instruction was implemented in the classroom for the enhancement of students' learning.
The Minister was approving of SCCL's achievements. He believed SCCL could continue to play a significant role in the development Chinese language education in Singapore.
