SCCL organised a training programme for EtonHouse International Holdings Pte Ltd
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) organised the "Professional Certificate in Teaching of Chinese as a Second Language" training programme for teachers from EtonHouse International Holdings Pte Ltd. The training programme was held from 22 April to 17 June 2021, and was attended by 12 Chinese language primary school teachers from the various EtonHouse International Schools in Singapore.
The training programme consisted of five courses, which aimed to provide participants with theoretical and practical knowledge of various aspects of second language acquisition and equip them with relevant teaching and assessment strategies to enhance their effectiveness in teaching Chinese as a second language in a bilingual environment.
Before the start of the programme, a pre-course discussion between the lecturers and participants was held online for them to find out more about each other and for the lecturers to understand the learning needs and expectations of the participants. Although all the courses had to be held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it did not affect the participants' enthusiasm for learning. Both parties maintained a high level of interaction throughout the programme through the use of various online tools.
The programme ended on a high note with an online graduation ceremony on 29 June 2021, when the Certificate of Achievement was presented to all participants. The ceremony was attended by Dr Foo Suan Fong (Executive Director, SCCL), Mr Chong Leong Chin (Deputy Executive Director, SCCL), Lecturers, personnel from the Curriculum Department of SCCL, and teachers from EtonHouse International Schools.
