A delegation of the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) visited Vietnam from 2 April to 12 April 2023. During the 11-day trip, the delegation visited a total of 14 universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, including (1) Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, (2) Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, (3) Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages - Information Technology, (4) Nguyen Tat Thành University, (5) Thu Dau Mot University, (6) Ho Chi Minh University of Banking, (7) Van Lang University, (8) Hanoi Open University, (9) Hanoi University, (10) School of Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry, (11) Thuyloi University, (12) Phenikaa University, (13) Thang Long University, and (14) University of Social Sciences and Humanities Hanoi. During the time in Ho Chi Minh City, the SCCL delegation was also received by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.

  The delegation held meetings and discussions with the representatives of each university and the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, sharing SCCL's experiences in Chinese language education and research. Dr Foo Suan Fong, Executive Director of SCCL, introduced the history and development of SCCL, its training courses, researches, academic publications, and the newly launched training programmes and courses for Chinese language teachers and students in the region who are interested in Chinese language and culture. The delegation expressed its desire to collaborate with Vietnamese universities to provide professional training for Chinese language teachers and students in Vietnam and to organise activities related to Chinese language and culture.

  On 12 June and 27 June, SCCL welcomed the delegations from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, and School of Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry. Friendly and fruitful discussions were conducted to explore ways to cultivate and broaden the international perspectives of Vietnamese students through future collaborations. Memorandums of Understanding were signed on-site, setting the framework for cooperation in various fields between SCCL and the two visiting institutes.
