2014 Chinese New Year Celebration

The SCCL Chinese New Year lunch gathering was held at the Bamboo Villa on 22nd January 2014. Gracing the event were four distinguished guests from the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD), Minsitry of Education, namely Mr Sng Chern Wei (Director), Mr Lo Chee Lin (Deputy Director), Mr Fong Yeow Wah (Assistant Director), and Mdm Jocelyn Lim (Assistant Director).

The lunch gathering started off with the new year greetings from SCCL Executive Director Dr Chin Chee Kuen, followed by the tossing of "Yusheng" with the guests. Staff members then raised their glasses of sparkling juice and tossed "Yam Seng" as a guesture of blessing to the Centre for reaching greater heights in its accomplishments.

Adding to the festive mood, members from the Staff Welfare Committee decorated the Centre with new year decorations and used mandarin oranges and red packets to lay out the Chinese character "旺", which means prosperous, to wish all staff good luck for the coming year.

Mandarin oranges were given to every staff at the end of the lunch gathering. The 2014 Chinese New Year lunch gathering ended on a joyous note, with everyone looking forward to a smooth sailing year ahead.
