Book Launch of Deep Teaching: The teaching practices and reflections of Singapore's Chinese Language Master Teachers

In conjunction with the World Book Day cum Literature under the April Sky event, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) has organized a book launch and reading session of Deep Teaching: The teaching practices and reflections of Singapore's Chinese Language Master Teachers on 30 April 2015, from 3pm to 5pm. The reading session was led by Dr Tan Chee Lay, Deputy Executive Director of SCCL, along with the Master Teachers Team.

The book Deep Teaching, directed by Dr Tan Chee Lay, composes 15 academic research papers written by Singapore's Chinese language Master Teachers. It discusses on the teaching of Chinese language and Chinese literature in Singapore. As a joint effort of SCCL and the Master Teachers, this book is a milestone in the field of Chinese language education and research. It is also a summary of the Master Teachers' reflections and experience accumulated in practice.

4th International Conference on
Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second Language (TLCSL)

Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) of Nanyang Technological University will be hosting the 4th International Conference on Teaching and Learning of Chinese as a Second Language on 9 – 10 September 2015 to promote research and application of Second Language Teaching and Learning, as well as to provide experts and educators of Chinese Language a platform to exchange experiences and ideas on pedagogical approaches. The conference is co-organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic, National Institute of Education and SIM University, and supported by Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union and Singapore Middle School Chinese Teachers' Association.
