Arts Education Talk
Co-organised by China Cultural Center (Singapore) , Centre of International Cultural Exchange (China) and China National Theatre for Children, the China-Singapore Children's Arts Festival 2016 commenced on 25June 2016.
At the festival, three student weeklies owned by Singapore Press Holdings, namely Zbcomma, Thumbs Up, Thumbs Up Junior, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language, China National Theatre for Children and China Cultural Center co-organised the talk "Children's Arts Education and the Learning of Language & Culture" on 27 June 2016 with Mr Shan Zenghong, Vice President of China National Theatre for Children. Mr Shan Zenghong delivered a speech on the importance and impact of arts education on children's development. SCCL Executive Director (Research and Development) Dr Tan Chee Lay and Early Childhood Care and Education Lecturer Dr Lee Chee Keng shared their views on the roles of arts education in teaching and learning Chinese in Singapore and the challenges faced by educators, followed by a discussion with Mr Shan on questions related to arts education. The talk was hosted by Dr Foo Suan Fong, Dunman High School Principal.
More than 200 people attended the arts education talk.
