Activities in SCCL

1. Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

On 9 September, SCCL staff came together to celebrate Mid-Autumn festival. It was a timely gathering for us, along with festive foods such as mooncakes, pomelos and Chinese tea. This year, the committee organised a competition. We were tasked to mould figurines and items associated with Mid-Autumn festival using plasticine. Thereafter, we were required to do a story show-and-tell with our creation. It was a test of our creativity and imagination. The fun-filled afternoon then ended with laughter and joy.

2. Dispatcher Assisted first Responder (DARE) Course

What would you do if someone suddenly had a cardiac arrest and collapsed in front of you? Are you ready to step forward to help?

In order to enable staff to better handle such situations, the SCCL Human Resource Department invited the Unit for Pre-hospital Emergency Care (UPEC) from Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to the centre on 28 September 2016 for a Dispatcher Assisted first Responder (DARE) Course. The course introduced the steps to perform the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This course included a hands-on session whereby our staff get to practise the CPR on the CPR manikins. The two hour-long course was definitely a fruitful one.
