The National Children's Story Writing Competition:Student Category On-the-spot Competition a Tremendous Success In an effort to promote local Chinese literary writing and to cultivate children's interest of learning Chinese, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) and the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) co-organised the "Creativity, No Boundaries!" National Children's Story Writing Competition.

You Jin's Short Essays—Creation and Appreciation
SCCL's Lecture Series: In the interest of providing teachers an opportunity to interact up-close with writers and gain a deeper understanding of their literary works, a talk was organised on 15 September 2016 by Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL).

SCCL Staff Invited as Keynote Speakers
On 12 August 2016, SCCL Executive Director Dr Chin Chee Kuen was invited to deliver a keynote speech on the subject of "The Developmental Track of Singapore's Chinese Language Curriculum" at the "Inheritance and Innovation: The International Conference on Chinese Education Reform" held in Beijing.

Heads of Department Focus Group Discussion 2016
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) organised two sessions of Heads of Department (HOD) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in 2016. The session for Secondary/Junior College/Centralised Institute HODs was held on 25 October, and the session for the Primary HODs took place on 7 November.

MTL Symposium and ECDA Early Childhood Conference
SCCL took part in Mother Tongue Languages Symposium and ECDA Early Childhood Conference The 5th Mother Tongue Languages (MTL) Symposium was held on 20 August 2016 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year, the theme of the symposium is "A Garden for Joyful Discoveries".

Chinese Teachers' Forum 2016
Chinese Teachers' Forum attracted over 300 participants The Chinese Teachers' Forum was held on 1 October 2016 at Nanyang Junior College. This event was co-organised by SCCL and Lianhe Zaobao students' publications namely "zbCOMMA", "Thumbs Up" and "Thumbs Up Junior". Themed "An Embracing Heart", the event attracted over 300 teachers and students.

Activities in SCCL
On 9 September, SCCL staff came together to celebrate Mid-Autumn festival. It was a timely gathering for us, along with festive foods such as mooncakes, pomelos and Chinese tea.

SCCL graded children books for Creative Knowledge Labs
SCCL graded children books for "WaWaYaYa JoyReader" developed by Creative Knowledge Labs With its specialisation in children's reading of Chinese, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language cooperated with Creative Knowledge Labs and graded hundreds of Chinese children books provided by the latter.
