CPDD-NIE-SCCL Tripartite Sharing Forum 2017
A Tripartite Sharing Forum co-organized by the Curriculum Planning and Development Department (CPDD) of MOE, Asian Languages and Culture Academic Group, National Institute of Education (NIE) and Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) was held on 4 July 2017. The participants comprised curriculum specialists, academics and researchers. The Forum provided a platform for the three parties to gain a better understanding of one another's projects and future plans and sought to engage the professionals to re-examine the future directions of Chinese language (CL) education in Singapore. It is hoped that the synergy thus created will help to enhance the teaching and learning of Chinese greatly.
The participants subsequently engaged in group brainstorming sessions which focused on the significance of Singapore Teaching Practice (STP) in CL education and how to deepen the tripartite cooperation to support CL teachers in carrying out STP. Results from the discussions were presented followed by a Q & A session.
Ms Ho Peng, Chairman of SCCL Board of Directors, iterated in her closing address the importance of collaboration and cooperation of the three parties to support the teaching and learning of Chinese in Singapore. It is her hope that through the concerted efforts of the three parties, students will regard and learn Chinese as a living language.
