1. New Staff

Dr Yao-San Lin

     Dr Yao-San Lin holds a Ph. D. in industrial and information management from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He has years of research experience in machine-learning-assisted teaching and learning of Chinese. His main research interests include AI-supported collaborative learning, natural language processing assisted with deep neural networks and teacher professional development. Dr Lin is currently a lecturer at SCCL.

 

2. Interns

     A new batch of students joined SCCL as interns in August. They are Qiao Anxin from East China Normal University, as well as Peng Jun, Xue Weijun and Long Yuqi from Jinan University.

     Qiao Anxin takes part in the projects "Enhancing Text Grading and Graded Text Editing with Ontological-based Semantic Features".
Peng Jun, Xue Weijun and Long Yuqi participate in the projects "Corpus-based Chinese Word Learning Mobile App for Young Learners", "Developing an Automated Chinese Essay Guiding System for Singapore Lower Secondary Students" and "A Multiple Case Study on Setting and Marking Open-ended Reading Comprehension Questions among Primary Five Chinese Teachers" respectively.

     Toh Jing Zhang from Ngee Ann Polytechnic joined the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Department in early September.
