Activities in SCCL
SCCL participated in the "Keep Clean, Singapore!" programme on 29 April 2019 and visited Police Heritage Centre as a learning journey on 31 May 2019.
1.Keep Clean, Singapore!
Singapore Centre for Chinese Language participated in the "Keep Clean, Singapore!" programme for the third time on 29th April 2019 at East Coast Park. We grouped into four teams to clean up the beach. Everyone was committed to cleaning up their allocated arears despite the scorching sun. In one and a half hours, we picked up a total of 6kg recyclable waste and 14kg unrecyclable waste, comprising scraps of paper, cigarette butts, bottles and other kinds of trash. We participate in "Keep Clean, Singapore!" every year as a way to fulfil our social obligations.

2.Learning Journey to the Police Heritage Centre
On 31 May 2019, SCCL staff visited Police Heritage Centre and learned about the history and development of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) since 1820. Guided by the curators, we visited the Main Gallery, the Command Gallery and the Commemorative Gallery. The Main Gallery exhibits the graphs, photos, and videos from various periods of the history of SPF. The Command Gallery features important historical figures who played a significant role in the development of SPF, uniforms of different periods, and badges of rank as SPF evolved over the years. The Commemorative Gallery honors the first three local Commissioners of Police, officers who have received conspicuous awards for their acts of gallantry, and officers who died in the line of duty. From this visit, SCCL staff gained a deeper understanding of the rule of law, the importance of trust and rapport between police and the community, and the significant role of SPF in maintaining Singapore's social stability and harmony.
