IT in Education Forum
Speakers of the forum exchanging views
To promote the use of information technology in education, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language co-organised the "IT in Education Forum" together with Chee Sze Poh Press and iKnow on 23 March 2013. Chee Sze Poh Press is a publisher of Chinese reading materials for primary school students while iKnow is an online shopping portal for IT products. The forum took place at the MDIS Auditorium.
The guest speakers were: (1) Dr Sim Seok Hwa, an adjunct lecturer from SCCL and Senior Curriculum Specialist from the Mother Tongue Languages Branch, Ministry of Education, Singapore, (2) Professor Zhang Jianmin, Vice-Dean, International College of Chinese Studies, and Dean, Centre of Distance Chinese Language Teaching, East China Normal University, China, and (3) Mr Edmund Chen, a former MediaCorp artiste and artist-writer, and (4) Ms Han Hongwei, a Chinese tutor. Both Dr Sim and Professor Zhang are IT-in-Education professionals.
The facilitator of the event was Mr Daryl Wang Di Cong, a popular DJ of Capital Radio 95.8FM.
Focusing on the theme of "IT in Eeducation", the speakers shared their views on the influence of technology on the learning of Chinese. They also explored how the computer, internet and other forms of information technology can be untilized to enchance the learning of Chinese. The response from the participants was overwhelming, with many looking forward to more similar seminars in the near future.
