International Exchanges

Since its foundation in 2008, Singapore Centre for Chinese Language has fostered a good relationship with a number of overseas and local academic institutions as well as research scholars. It received in April this year three groups of visitors from the East China Normal University (ECNU), National Hsinchu University of Education (NHCUE) and Jinan University respectively.

Executive Deputy Director of Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education ECNU visits SCCL

Subsequent to his signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with SCCL last December, Prof. Zhang Jianmin, Executive Deputy Director of Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Education ECNU, led again a delegation to SCCL on April 4 to visit the ECNU interns here. The delegation spoke with the interns' mentors to find out their work and research progress before proceeding to the interns' hostel under the accompaniment of Ms Jane Koo, SCCL's Strategic Development Manager. The team then met with SCCL Director Dr Chin Chee Kuen and expressed gratitude to SCCL for providing a great environment for the professional development of the interns. They would also like to push the cooperation with SCCL to a new height.

National Hsinchu University of Education Delegate visits SCCL

On 21 April, National Hsinchu University of Education (NHUE) delegate Dr Wu Chen-huei visited the SCCL. Dr Wu met with the Master Teachers at SCCL and had an extensive discussion on Chinese education in Taiwan and Singapore. She then visited the NHUE interns at SCCL and was informed of the interns' research programmes and job scopes. She believed that through the lesson observations arranged by the SCCL at the local schools, the interns could gain a deeper understanding of the Singapore education system and could apply their knowledge more effectively. Dr Wu concluded that the interns had indeed had an invaluable learning experience at the SCCL.

Jinan University Vice-President visits SCCL

On 28 April, Jinan University Vice-President Dr Zeng Yipin visited the SCCL. SCCL Director Dr Chin Chee Kuen, Deputy Director Dr Tan Chee Lay and the SCCL research team had a dialogue session with Dr Zeng regarding the recent trends of education in China and Singapore. Dr Zeng also paid visit to the interns who were doing their research at SCCL. in the area of pre-school education.
