Jointly organised by the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL) and Huaqiao University (HQU), the 2nd SCCL-HQU Symposium on Chinese Language Teaching was held on 26th and 27th July 2018 at SCCL. The theme of this year was "New Directions and Approaches of Chinese Language Teaching". There were a total of 22 oral presentations in the 2-day symposium, covering a variety of topics, such as hot issues and new directions of CL teaching and learning, theories and practice, teachers' training, and CL fundamental researches. Professor Jia Yimin, former president of HQU, delivered the keynote speech. The scholars from SCCL and HQU introduced their latest research findings and made in-depth discussions on relevant topics. This bilateral symposium has further consolidated the relationship between SCCL and HQU and deepened mutual understanding.
